The Top 10 PlayStation 5 Games

playstation 5 games

PlayStation 5 just reached a new milestone today as it celebrates its first year since it launched in November 12, 2020. In celebration of this monumental event, it is just appropriate that we countdown the 10 best games that came out so for the PlayStation 5.

This list is based on games I personally enjoyed playing on the PS5 and is in no way reflective of what this publication stands for. So without further adieu, here’s my top 10 Playstation 5 games.

#10 – Far Cry 6

Starting off at number 10 is Far Cry 6. Even though I would say that the same formula has been used in Far Cry 5. Far Cry 6 takes it further by providing us with a solid story. The characters in this game are people you’d want to root for and take the fight against the tyrant that is Anton Castillo. The game is laden with so many activities and yet it doesn’t feel overwhelming or forced. The game is action packed and there was never a dull moment in gameplay. It’s a must have if you own a PS5.

#9 – It Takes Two

It Takes Two is Hazelight’s latest game, the creator of A Way Out. It Takes Two is a co-op adventure that can be played either online or via couch co-op. I initially thought that it won’t be as good considering you are playing as toys. However, I was proven wrong and the game is nothing short but an enjoyable cinematic adventure from start to finish. The game challenges your communication skills and wits as you traverse the world with another player. There was no shortage of hilarity and epic moments that makes this game worthwhile to play.

#8 – Deathloop

Deathloop is an explosive time defying action adventure. It’s a roguelike game that utilizes the concept of time. The voice actors did a phenomenal job in keeping us entertained all the while trying to stay alive in this unforgiving world. It’s worth it having to rewind time just so you can hear what Cole and Julianna will talk about next. The game perfectly mashes up the 60s retro feel and the sci-fi futuristic vibe, delivering an out of this world experience that a fan of the genre can enjoy.

#7 – Returnal

Returnal initially got slammed for having no save points and people complaining that it’s just too damn difficult. But when I tried out Returnal myself, it just felt so challenging and enjoyable at the same time. It certainly isn’t the easiest roguelike game out there but being triumphant in boss battles here is just very rewarding. With the introduction of suspending you game, it helps make the game a little bit better to play. Still the game has been fun even if you die over and over again.

#6 – Kena: Bridge of Spirits

Kena: Bridge of Spirits is a fun platformer action adventure game. The Rots are just so adorable and fluffy that you can just forget about everyone else in this game and just stare at this fluffballs. The characters in Kena: Bridge of Spirits have so much depth in them that you can’t help but get invested in their stories and really figure out what happened to them. Each boss battle was unique and was enjoyable to go through with. The game can easily be mistaken as a Pixar movie.

#5 – Demon’s Souls

Although I would rather have a Demon’s Souls II instead of this remake, it was actually fun to get through the game again. The controls are just so much better and the game was built from the ground up and yet they were able to preserve everything of what the game was. It felt like a nostalgic trip down memory lane and at the same time a warm welcome to newcomers to the game.

#4 – Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart

It wouldn’t be a best PS5 games list if there was no mention of this awesome new game for Ratchet and Clank. Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart showcases the capabilities of the PS5. With a seamless transition as you go through multiple time rifts or the touch and feel of the adaptive triggers for each and every gun. Ratcher and Clank delivers in this action-packed adventure through space and time.

#3 – Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales

Miles Morales shines in this spinoff of the critically acclaimed Marvel’s Spider-Man game for the PlayStation. With the addition of Miles Morales’ newfound abilities, there was never a dull moment as you bob and weave through the enemies in this game. An epic adventure that shows Peter Parker is not the only Spider-Man that can deliver an awesome performance.

#2 – Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut

Ghost of Tsushima launched for the PS5 with enhanced graphics, better load times and a new story that made the game more awesome than it already is. It’s one of those games where you can just get lost in its world. A game where taking pictures can take you hours and hours just because of how beautiful this game is. Add to that a story that introduced us to some very lovable characters and villains that we all hated so much.

#1 – Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy

Taking the #1 spot in this list for me is none other than another Marvel game. This time the Guardians of the Galaxy take center stage in this out of this world adventure through space. In its own unique story, Guardians of the Galaxy never had shortage of anything entertaining. Even combat has been made more entertaining because of the Huddle feature where executing it correctly will result into letting you hear some very epic hype songs that will surely keep your blood pumping as you kill off your enemies.

And there you have it. There are so many PlayStation 5 games that I don’t think a top 10 is enough to show how many great games have been released. How about you? What’s your top 10 PlayStation 5 games? Share this article and let your friends know!
