Sony recently revealed the different editions of the upcoming Horizon Forbidden West. With the PS4 being priced at $49.99 and the PS5 version priced at $59.99. If you wanted to get both versions of the game, you will need to buy the Digital Deluxe Edition for $79.99.
Now here is what people are complaining about. If you wanted to buy the PS4 version of the game and want to upgrade later on, Sony is not offering a free upgrade. You will have to buy the PS5 version to do so.
Most people are saying that this is an outrage and that Sony should rethink this strategy. While some people are defending that this has always been the case and that Sony will eventually provide a free upgrade to PS4 players.
But the reality right now is Sony has made it clear that you won’t get an upgrade if you buy the PS4 version. Which makes this whole pricing scheme unfair. For me personally, I would probably just buy the PS5 version since I already own it. But I can understand the sentiment of the people who wants to play the game right now and is still trying to score a PS5.
It just doesn’t make sense why they would release a Deluxe Edition that has both versions of the game and not release a Standard version which would also have both. To add injury to insult, the Collector’s Edition and Regalla Edition of the game that will be sold in physical stores will not have a physical disc included. You will just get a code for both the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game.
Why would I spend a hefty large amount of money to only get a piece of paper. Collector’s Edition are supposed to be something that you will take pride in owning but taking out the physical disc from it just doesn’t feel right.
I hope that Sony will realize that this is a bad marketing move and will most likely push people away from ever dealing with Sony. Of course the fanboys will most likely stay to keep them afloat.
