Publisher Serenity Forge and developer White Rabbit today unleashed Death’s Gambit: Afterlife onto PlayStation 4, a massive expansion of the original Death’s Gambit that more than doubles the size of the game. The Afterlife update is available for free for players that owned the original Death’s Gambit.
Today’s news was accompanied by a trailer showcasing footage of the new content that Death’s Gambit: Afterlife is bringing to PlayStation owners today:
Death’s Gambit is a 2D action Metroidvania with slick combat that requires precision from its players to master its expansive combat options. Death’s Gambit: Afterlife adds 10 new levels, 22 new weapons, 100 talents, skills, storylines, cinematics, gameplay enhancements and much more to make it the definitive edition of the game.
Death’s Gambit: Afterlife is set in a medieval world shrouded in mystery, inhabited by immortal souls. Players will step into the role of the Sorum, a servant of Death, and must learn new skills and master an array of weapons as they seek to destroy the source of immortality.
Players will face terrifying enemies and battle against legendary bosses utilising an arsenal of weapons and powerful abilities in combat scenarios that demand not only skill, but also strategy and creativity to prevail. Choosing from seven playable classes, players are able to customise their character with new equipment and talents, as well as choose their own play style as they prepare to die, a lot, in a brutal and unforgiving world.
Death’s Gambit: Afterlife originally released earlier this year on PC and Nintendo Switch to critical praise, with Touch Arcade calling it “excellent” and GameSpew noting that its “Beautiful visuals, pleasant soundtrack and enjoyable gameplay” make it a wonderful title to explore.
