To celebrate the 500 million mark of PlayStation systems sold worldwide, Sony released a limited edition PS4 Pro that immediately sold out upon its launch. Since it’s going to be available at retailers tomorrow, you need to start thinking about your decision to buy.
This edition of the PS4 Pro was announced during the first week of August by PlayStation Worldwide Marketing Senior Vice President, Eric Lempel. The popular translucent design was a way for Sony to thank its loyal PlayStation fans over the last 24 years.
The price $499.99 USD (MSRP) is truly on the high side, but what makes it worth the money is what the package brings with it besides the console.
The dark blue, copper plated console comes with a matching DualShock4 Controller and PlayStation Camera, vertical stand, and most especially the 2TB hard drive.
The “fan-favorite” translucent design and neon-lit insides allow you to view the screws and gears within the gadgets that make them interesting and fun to have in any room. It’s sleek, shiny, and will be an incredibly rare piece in the future. The package add-ons like the controller and camera would be cheaper bought together than separately as well.
Take note that you can only get the controller separately, as the PlayStation Camera with the limited edition design exclusively comes with the console. A matching wireless headset is also sold separately at $99.99 USD (MSRP).
But what creates a reason to get this version is not only the desirability of a collector’s aspiration for a limited copy (Only 50,000 copies will be sold), but the assurance that even the hardware is at its powerful as dedicated to the PS4 Pro.
However, as powerful as it may be and as beautiful as it will appear at first, the issue one may have is cleaning the plastic coverings that will easily be prone to dust, smudges, and lots of fingerprints. So probably best to keep a cloth nearby to keep that machine in its pristine conditions.
As for the objective and practical, to go through the trouble of purchasing a copy of the PS4 may cause you to spend time and cash excessively if you are not a dedicated collector — as we can’t forget that the PS5 is still in the air of a speculated release and to wait for that instead and use your still-working PS4 console would be the wiser.
In its entirety, the limited edition PS4 Pro is dedicated to the loyal and hardcore fans of Sony and its consoles that grew up along with a generation. It’s a collector’s copy and for those who are yet to purchase a PS4 and are looking at this to jumpstart their entrance into our world.
Will you line up for this?
