It appears to be FromSoftware is reportedly developing a new game that will be a PS5 exclusive with Souls-like gameplay aside from Elden Ring. Reports say the IP is not a Bloodborne or Demon’s Souls sequel or prequel but a brand new one.
As spotted by The Game Post on XboxEra’s podcast, Hidetaka Miyazaki is currently part of the development team according to the podcast’s co-host, who is also a trusted source of leaks, Nick. Miyazaki is known for his Souls games, and with him in the team means there this ‘rumored’ PS5 exclusive will definitely have Souls-like mechanics.
Nick confirmed this through a Discord message from a direct source, stating that the project is “identical” to Demon’s Souls and Bloodborne. Furthermore, the team consists not just of Miyazaki and FromSoftware but also people from the already closed SIE Japan Studio.
The message continues to say that “it’s not Bloodborne, it’s not Demon’s Souls” but a new IP with no connection to any of those games aside from it being ‘Souls-like’.
To add, Dealer Gaming also reported something similar during their podcast but more on the take of FromSoftware developing a PS5 exclusive IP earlier this week. Nick also confirmed this rumor during the podcast, pushing that this rumor is real.
And because of this, FromSoftware had to put the upcoming Armored Core game “on hold” or that the project is currently having troubles during its development according to Nick. However, the XboxEra podcast co-host did say the Armored Core info is “old” and that it may have already changed.
While this is exciting, rumors like these even if it comes from a reputable source like Nick should still be taken with a grain of salt.
Elden Ring is FromSoftware’s upcoming action role-playing game that’s slated to launch next year on January 21, 2022, for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
