RAGE 2 To Feature Social Component But Not Usual Multiplayer Mode

Rage 2 title

id Software’s Tim Willits spoke to a publication during an interview at Quakecon 2018 that RAGE 2 will have a social component, but it will not be the usual multiplayer mode.

RAGE 2 not the typical multiplayer mode

Willits said that the studio right now cannot say more details, but he understands that it is important to connect with their players. He said that there is not a true classic multiplayer, which means to say that players will not be joining up together with their friends. The studio felt that their video game has enough hours of entertainment worth their money. He also said that they feel like they have a good offering for the players.

Microtransactions still not clear

When asked about microtransactions, Willits did not give a clear answer, but he did say that he needs to be careful when talking about loot boxes. He did say they will not have that feature, but they are trying to figure out how it will work. They want to balance it all because they do not want the gamers to feel like they are chasing them for money. On the other hand, they want to give people the opportunity to have the experience they want and extend that. They are still ironing things out before they disclose more.

Avalanche Studios collaborates with id Software

In other related news, game director Magnus Nedfors from Avalanche Studios confirmed that they are working with id Software in creating this game. They are writing the code, created the art and other features, which is done in Stockholm. However, the game will have the similar feel to DOOM as the developers were taught the id-style of doing things.
