Here comes another rumor from the mill and as usual it is all about the upcoming iteration of the PlayStation 4: the PlayStation 5. Before anything else, just take these statements as a grain of salt.
PlayStation 5 launches late 2019?
This time around a new analyst has appeared to make his own assumptions on the release date of the PS5. Analyst Hideki Yasuda from the Osaka-based firm Ace Economic Research Institute revealed everything on Sony’s financial performance.
Yasuda said that his firm believes that the PS5 will be coming at the end of 2019 or even later. Even though he did state that, the Murata Manufacturing and TDK are worried of the tightening of the worldwide supply and demand chain of monolithic ceramic capacitors or MLCC. This would be risky for business in the future.
The problem with the MLCCs is that a lot of cars are actually equipped with a large number of these bad boys. They are now being introduced in the market right now and then the launch of the 5G mobile services. This will cause the arrival of more and more advanced smartphones, which also need MLCCs. The ones left behind are the gaming consoles, which will not have a lot of supply in large quantities in order to launch a new console.
With that kind of issue, the firm believes there might be even a delay of the PS5 console manufacture. They might even push back the release further more if that happens.
PlayStation’s performance
Another reason why Yasuda believes PS5 is coming soon is the performance of the brand itself. The firm believes that the strong results were not just the result of the first-party titles, but also due to a battle royale game: Epic Games’ Fortnite. It might be unbelievable at first but according to them, its mictransactions have reached a scale that could make a big contribution to the revenue of console manufacturers.
