Kingdom Hearts III Developer Apologizes For Long Wait With Explanation

Kingdom Hearts III Tangled

Co-director Tai Yasue recently revealed in an exclusive interview the explanation why upcoming and most anticipated JRPG sequel Kingdom Hearts III took too long to make.

Kingdom Hearts III delay explained

Over ten years have passed since the last Kingdom Hearts title finally came out and that made fans suffer so much for waiting that long. It was only due that the co-director came up clean and explained the reason why it really took so long to release.

In the exclusive interview, Yasue stated that before beginning work on KH3, Square Enix needed to revamp its game engine since the previous one was already outdated. This seemed to be the problem since the development team needed to learn how to adapt and work with this new version.

Here is his statement and apology:

Our current engine is great in terms of developing a high end AAA title, but because there was a change in technology and work flows, it took some time for the team to adapt and adjust. I’m truly sorry to have kept everyone waiting for so long! It took a while, but we really wanted to make sure the game met everyone’s expectations. I hope, more than I’ve hoped for anything else in my 20 years of making games, that you all enjoy it.

The game will launch on Jan. 29. It will be available on PlayStation 4.
