SIE Santa Monica’s God of War soft reboot is definitely doing really great in terms of sales. With the added praise from critics and the gaming community, God of War exceeded expectations according to Sony. Now, God of War takes the record holder from Naughty Dog’s post-apocalyptic story-driven The Last of Us in sales. Mat Piscatella from the NPD Group confirmed this in an interview with IGN.
I currently project God of War finishing 2018 as the 8th best-selling game in the US market, but a few more months of performance like this and I may have to raise those expectations.” according to Piscatella.
God of War, is a soft reboot of the very popular series. Helmed by game director Cory Barlog who worked on the original God of War and God of War II, the game takes a different approach to what it was used to. This time around, we see Kratos doing his best to become the best father figure to his now son Atreus.
This is truly a bold approach and is something that fans of the series may or may not like. It is a risky gamble that will hopefully pay off for Santa Monica studios and PlayStation.
God of War is currently available on sale for PS4 and PS5.
