id Software game director Marty Stratton revealed some vital information about the upcoming video game DOOM Eternal. This was in regards to the single-player DLC.

DOOM Eternal has some good news

Stratton revealed in an interview during the Quakecon 2018 event that the upcoming sequel will have single-player DLC. He said that they reflected on the previous game’s development and thought that if they could do something different, it would be to go back and add more content to the campaign.

The game director wanted to add more content to the campaign of DOOM after it was launched. He wanted people to have more follow-up DLC from a campaign perspective. They are now planning about this and he is looking forward to it.

Might tie in to the Invasion feature

Stratton stated that the game’s single-player DLC might tie up with its Invasion feature. This allows players to invade other players’ campaigns, which could become chaotic and fun at the same time. He pointed out that it could add a lot of replay value for the game.

Reason for the new title

In other related news, Stratton told another publication the reason why they named the game Eternal instead of Doom 2. They wanted to avoid associating it with the year of its release date, which usually happens to other sequels named as such. Creative director Hugo Martin said that it would be problematic for searching the game online because it would come up with the other titles as well. He confirmed that naming it Eternal was something that just felt right.
