It has been reported that several players have been complaining of issues when playing recently launched video game Borderlands 3 on Sony’s console.
Borderlands 3 having issues on PS4 Pro
Players have reported technical issues that ranged from split-screen lag to the game stuttering in the PlayStation 4 Pro’s performance mode. Some have submitted their concerns at the game’s subreddit, others have reached social media. Gearbox has yet to make an official response for all of these issues, but at least they have confirmed the split-screen predicament.
The issue actually happens when one of the players playing in the split-screen feature opens up the menu to tweak their skills or gear. Gearbox now announced that they are working on optimizing that feature and fixing the issue, but there was no statement of its release in a patch form. This is what they said:
We are aware that in some cases during split-screen couch co-op play, players can experience lag while in heavy combat and one of the players goes into their ECHOdevice and tries to navigate the skill trees and menus. While we will continue to work to optimize the Borderlands 3 experience, we’d advise split-screen players to prep for combat ahead of big encounters, and not leave a teammate behind to fight solo mid firefight!
In a related note, players have been requesting the developers to release a patch that could have a vertical split-screen feature. Since the horizontal screen is making it hard for them to read text, this suggestion could lessen their burden. There is still no official word from the devs, but someone claimed that they were contacted by 2K and was told that they have no plans to add vertical split-screen at this time.
The game is already available on PlayStation 4.
