Microtransactions and loot boxes have always made the gaming community uncomfortable by just simply hearing it. Michael Gamble, BioWare’s Lead Producer on Anthem, took some time to answer a couple of questions over Twitter and one thing was brought up by one of the fans: loot boxes. Gamble answered that Anthem will not have any kind of loot boxes or anything related to it and that microtransactions will only be for cosmetics.
“We aren’t going to add loot boxes. It serves no purpose. The cosmetics and MTX [microtransactions] plan is what we’ve outlined. Legion of Dawn is four new armor packs. They aren’t just skins. Each Javelin has four armor bits. You get 16 with LOD + weapons + other goodies.” Gamble posted on Twitter.
While this seems a great sight to read, it’s quite popular among game publishers to secretly add loot boxes in a future update. But this might not happen at all on Anthem as Gamble responded to one of the Twitter posts: “Why on earth would we let people waste real money on things they won’t keep?”
Anthem is releasing next month on February 22 on PS4 and other platforms, and a demo is heading its way fast this January 25.
