2018 Wrap-Up: PlayStation Media Thanksgiving

Play Everything, For The Players, and Greatness Awaits, these are all the slogans PlayStation is known for. They live by it, the principle they protected since the original PlayStation’s release in the 90s.

2018 has come to a close, it’s now part of history. Sony Interactive Entertainment Hong Kong Limited Singapore Branch (SIES) hosted a wonderful media gathering last year in November to finally close 2018 with nothing but joy and an amazing year for gamers.

Ian Purnomo, SIES Assistant Manager – Public Relations, opened the program with a few remarks and showcased PS4’s outstanding performance in 2018 selling for more than 80 million units. With Monster Hunter World’s launch on consoles, it was the most played multiplayer on the platform; then followed by the magnificent soft reboot of God of War which was considered to be Sony’s first fast-selling title in history; Detroit: Become Human swiftly entered with solid success. When September came, Insomniac Games’ Marvel’s Spider-Man was met with praise and an impressive first week of sales, it even surpassed God of War’s opening week which puts our friendly-neighborhood Spider-Man in the spotlight this year.

2018 is Sony’s year to take, they’re glad about the platform’s huge success and the company isn’t shying away from celebrating this with everybody in the Philippines. Free drinks, a delightful buffet, and quiz games to test out that PlayStation knowledge.

Games such as Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice and Kingdom Hearts III had playable demos at the party. I had fun with both games, and with my first time playing FromSoftware’s newest crafts, this might convince me to play Dark Souls and Bloodborne after so many years.

Everybody had fun, there were countless game discussions from left to right. The PlayStation atmosphere clouded the entire B.A.D Late Night Breakfast Bar from 4:00PM to 9:00PM.

Sony Interactive Entertainment didn’t just let its players experience something short-lived but games that will be remembered for decades.

2019 is here and we at PlayStation Galaxy are eager to hear and experience those upcoming games up in Sony’s sleeves these coming months.
