A recent issue of Famitsu Magazine revealed some new information about the upcoming title of the Ys series, Ys IX: Monstrum Nox.
Ys IX: Monstrum Nox new information revealed
The upcoming title will follow the critically acclaimed Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana. The story will take place after what happened in Ys VII. Game developer Nihon Falcom decided to go with a different type of story and atmosphere than the previous titles in order to challenge and renew themselves. The game will revolve around the night and the Monstrum are mysterious individuals that are recently shown in a key visual.
In this game, the oldest incarnation of Adol Christin will be appearing. There is still no information on what role he will be playing in this title, but by this timeline, heroic deeds and skills as an adventurer have been recognized all over the world already.
The battle system of this title will be similar to the party-like system found in recent titles, but there is still no information on how many characters are included in such group. Each of the Monstrum members will have unique supernatural abilities like the ability to transform into shadow or run across walls.
A guild management system is in the game. It will be similar to the village building found in part 8. President Toshihiro Kondo talked about the hooded woman with the prosthetic arm and leg appearing in the key visual. He said that the image actually has some hint of what the key aspects of the game will be.
The game will launch in 2019. It will be available on PlayStation 4.
