Open world video game Red Dead Redemption 2 has been out for a while and Red Dead Online has been one of its modes that features multiplayer. Fans have been hoping for a story DLC, but that would be a pipe dream with this new information.

Red Dead Online main development

Lead online production associate Katie Pica from Rockstar Games recently talked with a gaming publication about the game and its features. She was asked about the potential for single-player story DLC, but she answered that the team is currently focused on multiplayer. She said that there is so much to do that they are 100 percent focused on online right now. They are hoping to bring everything that the fans loved about the single-player into the online world and just branch out from there.

Online multiplayer producer Tarek Hamad confirmed this in the interview as well.

We’ve said it before, but we all love single-player games, and Red Dead Redemption 2’s absolutely massive story and equally massive epilogue are hopefully evidence of that.

The team’s ambitions for Red Dead Redemption 2 were sky high in every way, and when we are building worlds of that scale, the single-player experience almost always leads the way. Our ambitions for our online games are just as high, and with Red Dead Online we are continuing to build and expand to match the world we created for Red Dead Redemption 2’s story, not just with the roles but other activities, new random events, characters to meet, new ways to engage with the world and further inhabit your character, as well as trying to improve the overall experience.

The main game and multiplayer experience is already available on PlayStation 4.
