‘Next-Gen’ PlayStation Improves Load Times

As we are closing in to the end of the PlayStation 4’s life-cycle, Sony is already in the works of developing the next-generation PlayStation. The system specs were initially revealed by the company’s Lead System Architect, Mark Cerny; and that includes a ‘specialized’ solid state drive, as we all know it in the PC space – SSD.

The Wall Street Journal’s Takashi Mochizuki posted on Twitter a short clip that shows the comparison of the ‘next-gen’ PlayStation versus the PS4 Pro’s loading time in Insomniac Games’ Spider-Man. The PS4 Pro took about 8 seconds to fully load the game while the ‘next-gen’ PlayStation grabbed us at 83 milliseconds – that’s less than a second! While the duration is not considerably far off, this video shows how Sony wants to improve the user experience all throughout and puts an emphasis on why it’s best to play games on PlayStation.

With Sony backing off from E3 2019 to hold their own show outside the annual major convention, we will, hopefully, get more details on this ‘next-gen’ PlayStation really soon especially that Microsoft is gearing towards E3 to announce the next-generation Xbox.
