Final Fantasy VII Remake Developers Not Sure How Many Games It Will Take

Game director Yoshinori Kitase recently revealed information about the upcoming video game Final Fantasy VII Remake. It is in relation to how many games it will take for the remake project.

Kitase divulged new information that he could not say how many games the remake project will consist. He stated that the development team are not sure themselves how it will turn out.

The director added that the team is currently in the process of planning out the scope for the second game. Simultaneous with that is finishing up the development of the first game.

This finally confirms that the game will have multi-releases. The first one will have two Blu-ray discs and covers all of Midgar. It will launch on March 3, 2020.

Kitase confirmed that the development on further entries in the remake project will not be shorter than the development of the first game. While the characters and such are done, the new environments will still take some time. He expects it to be not dramatically shorter.

Square Enix public relations also gave a statement:

While the development team finishes the first game of the project, they are also planning the volume of content for the second. Due to the work already done on the first game, we anticipate that the development of the second game will be more efficient. However, for now we would like to focus on the development of the first game.

Final Fantasy VII Remake is going to launch on March 3, 2020.
