Cyberpunk 2077 Scene System Allows Players Control In Cutscenes

Cyberpunk 2077

Game developer CD Projekt RED recently revealed in an interview that upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 has the Scene System that allows a certain entertaining experience for players.

Cyberpunk 2077 Scene System detailed

Some video games would allow players to pan their cameras during cutscenes so they can be immersed with it. CD Projekt RED promises that their new feature Scene System will push it a step forward. It will allow players to take control of their characters in the cutscene, which will allow them to be fully immersed in it.

Krakow office head John Mamais revealed in an interview that it is their team that is contributing this idea to the project. They are the ones leading this Scene System.

Here is his full statement:

In terms of content, maybe it’s about a third of the game. We’re doing some specific things. For Cyberpunk, for the narrative part, for the cinematic part, there is something new called a Scene System. It’s like our dialogue and cinematic system that occurs within the context of the gameplay of the game. It’s really important because one of the pillars of the development of the project is the idea of full immersion and this new Scene System is all about full immersion. You don’t break into a letterbox formula and see this cutscene taking place, you’re actually in the cutscene and you can control the character or the camera, there are different levels of control depending on the cutscene. It’s fully immersive; it doesn’t take you out of the experience at all. So we’re doing that and also other things too.

There are no demos that have this particular system shown off yet. This might change as the release date draws near.

The upcoming full game will launch on April 16, 2020. It will be released on PlayStation 4.
