Sad news for the fans of Koji Igarashi’s work today. The highly-anticipated Kickstarter video game Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is now delayed with more bad news.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night delayed to 2019

Game producer Koji Igarashi sadly announced on a Kicstarter update that their ongoing developing game is now delayed into 2019. They did not mention any specific release dates, so we will have to wait for more news after this. The producer explained the reason for the delay, which was due to the feedback they got after releasing the beta to the Kickstarter backers. They now realize they have to up their ante now and make the quality of the game better than ever. This will take more time than they originally anticipated.

Vita version cancelled

Even sadder news from the first is that Iga and the rest of the gang are now cancelling the PlayStation Vita version of the game. He also explained this sudden move. He stated that it was largely due to Sony’s plans to discontinue the Vita console. He continued that they will end the production of the physical copies and stop certain online store support features. Too bad for the Vita owners, but this is a sensible move by them since there might be no profit for them in the future, well, for the other international audiences. Japan still plays Vita even to this day.

For the backers of the game on Kickstarter and chose the Vita version, they can now select a new platform to receive the game. They can also opt for getting their money back. Fangamer will be emailing those guys to help them with the process.

Iga is sad about this development and apologized for disappointing the fans. He assured them though that they are working really hard to deliver them the game they want. This is better than a rushed job with bad results.

The game will launch on the PlayStation 4.
